Closed Online Test Ends — and Forgotten Hollow Was the Best Surprise
MapleStory Classic World's first global Closed Online Test is over. The test opened April 16 and closed April 24, 2026, giving around 5,000 selected players eight days inside the rebuilt classic world. It was the project's biggest external milestone since the April 2025 announcement, and it came with a genuine surprise.
The Forgotten Hollow Reveal
On April 21, midway through the test, Nexon unlocked Forgotten Hollow: a brand-new endgame area that had not appeared in any previous build or announcement. For a project whose entire pitch is faithfulness to the original game, shipping a new original zone is a statement: Classic World intends to grow beyond a museum piece, with new content built in the old style. It is the clearest signal yet of what “more original content” on the roadmap actually means.
What Testers Played
- Level cap 50, second job advancement at level 30
- Four original Explorer classes: Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Thief (plus Beginner)
- Victoria Island and Ossyria (Orbis, El Nath)
- Kerning Party Quest
- Bosses: Mushmom variants, Jr. Balrog, King Slime, Mano
- Forgotten Hollow endgame area (unlocked April 21)
What Comes After the Test
Nexon collected survey feedback from every participant, and the team has been clear that this was not the final test: one more is planned before full launch. No launch date has been announced. Follow our news page for the official recap numbers and the development roadmap that followed this test.
