Party Quest Etiquette
Master the unwritten rules of party quests and become everyone's favorite party member
Why PQ Etiquette Matters
Party Quests (PQs) are a core part of MapleStory Classic, offering great EXP and valuable rewards. Following proper etiquette ensures everyone has a smooth, enjoyable experience and makes you a sought-after party member. Good PQ etiquette builds your reputation and leads to better parties!
Before the Party Quest
✅ Know the Requirements
Check level requirements, job restrictions, and any specific items needed. Don't waste everyone's time arriving unprepared.
✅ Come Prepared
Bring plenty of potions, have your skills ready, and ensure you're buffed. Check your inventory space for rewards!
✅ Be Punctual
If you commit to a PQ party, be there on time. If you're running late, communicate immediately.
✅ Learn the Mechanics
Watch a video or read a guide beforehand, especially for your first time. Ask questions before starting, not during critical moments.
During the Party Quest
Communication
📢 Call Out Important Information
Share portal numbers, monster counts, or stage completions. Clear communication prevents mistakes.
🤐 Don't Spam Chat
Keep chatter relevant during the PQ. Save socializing for between runs.
❓ Ask for Help When Needed
If you're confused, ask! It's better than silently failing your role.
Your Role & Contribution
⚔️ Pull Your Weight
Actively participate - don't AFK or leech. Everyone should contribute equally.
🎯 Know Your Job
Understand your class's role. Bishops heal, DPS classes focus damage, etc.
🏃 Stay with the Group
Don't wander off or rush ahead. Stick together unless the strategy requires splitting up.
Loot Distribution
One of the most important aspects of PQ etiquette is fair loot distribution:
Establish Rules First
- • Discuss loot rules before starting
- • Common methods: Need/Greed, Round Robin, Leader distributes
- • Get everyone's agreement upfront
Follow the Agreement
- • Don't grab items without permission
- • Honor Need before Greed
- • Don't be greedy with valuable drops
⚠️ Warning: Ninja looting (stealing items without permission) will get you blacklisted from future parties. Don't ruin your reputation for one item!
Common PQ Scenarios
Kerning City PQ (KPQ)
- • Leader tracks needed portal combinations
- • Call out your portal number immediately
- • Don't rush to King Slime - wait for the party
- • Share potions if someone is running low
Ludibrium PQ (LPQ)
- • Know the box jumping sequence
- • Assign roles for different stages in advance
- • Communicate Alishar's HP percentage
- • Don't leave until everyone gets their rewards
Orbis PQ (OPQ)
- • Split into balanced teams for the garden stage
- • Coordinate on statue placement
- • Clear assigned rooms efficiently
- • Papa Pixie requires good coordination - follow leader
What NOT to Do
❌ Leaving Mid-PQ
Don't abandon your party unless it's an absolute emergency. You'll waste everyone's time and effort.
❌ AFKing
Even brief AFKs can fail time-sensitive stages. If you must step away, inform the party first.
❌ Blaming Others
Mistakes happen. Stay positive and help solve problems instead of pointing fingers.
❌ Being Toxic
Rude behavior, insults, or negativity ruins the experience for everyone. Be respectful.
❌ Rushing Without Explanation
If you're experienced, help newer players learn. Don't just speed through leaving them confused.
Building a Good Reputation
Be Consistent
Show up regularly and be reliable. People remember good party members.
Help Others Learn
Patiently teach new players. They'll become your reliable party members later.
Stay Positive
Even when runs go poorly, maintain a good attitude. Positivity is contagious.
Always Improve
Learn from mistakes and become more efficient with each run.
