Classic World Roadmap: Ossyria Expansion, macOS Support, and One Final Test Before Launch

6 min read

With the Closed Online Test wrapped, Nexon has laid out where MapleStory Classic World development goes next. The late-May update names four priorities: closing the balance gap between jobs, adding more original content, expanding the world to the Ossyria continent, and bringing the client to macOS. Most importantly for anyone watching the calendar: one more test is planned before the game's full rollout.

Job Balance Comes First

Test data and player feedback made clear that some classes pull far ahead of others in the classic balance. The team says it wants to close gaps between certain classes without flattening what makes each job distinct, a tension every classic-server project wrestles with. Expect adjustments rather than redesigns; the stated goal remains an authentic launch-era experience.

Ossyria at Launch

The launch world will reach beyond Victoria Island: Orbis and El Nath on the Ossyria continent are confirmed launch content, with a level cap of 50, second job advancement at level 30, and bosses including Mushmom variants, Jr. Balrog, King Slime, and Mano. Kerning Party Quest is in; Zakum, third and fourth job advancement, and Ludibrium Party Quest are planned for after launch.

macOS Support Is Coming

A Mac client is officially in development. Launch platform remains Windows PC, with macOS support to follow; Nexon has not committed to whether Mac support arrives at launch or after. For a game whose audience grew up and largely works on laptops now, this is one of the most requested features, and it is now on the official roadmap.

One More Test, Then Launch

The April Closed Online Test will not be the last. Nexon has confirmed a final test before full release. No dates yet, but the April test's registration opened roughly five weeks ahead, which gives a feel for the lead time to expect. We'll cover the announcement the day it lands on our news page.
