Kerning City Party Quest

Introduction to KPQ

The Kerning City Party Quest (officially called "First Time Together") is one of the most iconic and beloved party quests in MapleStory Classic World. For many players, KPQ represents their first real party experience and some of the most fun leveling content in the game.

This guide will teach you everything you need to know to run KPQ efficiently, from party formation to stage-by-stage strategies.

📋 Basic Requirements

Entry Requirements

  • Level Range: 21-30
  • Party Size: Exactly 4 members
  • Time Limit: 30 minutes
  • Location: Kerning City Subway

Recommended Setup

  • 💚 1-2 Mages (for AOE)
  • 💙 1-2 Warriors (for tanking)
  • 💛 Thieves/Bowmen (for DPS)
  • ⚠️ Not class-restricted!

🎯 How to Enter

  1. 1.
Form a party of exactly 4 players within the level 21-30 range
  2. 2.
Travel to Kerning City and head to the Subway station
  3. 3.
Navigate to Line 1 - Area 1 in the subway
  4. 4.
Talk to Cloto to enter the Dimensional Crack
  5. 5.
Party leader clicks "Enter" and all party members must enter through the portal quickly

Pro Tip: KPQ can get crowded! Be patient and respectful when waiting for a party or a spot to enter.

🚪 Stage-by-Stage Walkthrough

Stage 1: Accompaniment

In this stage, each party member (except the leader) must answer Cloto's question correctly by collecting the right number of coupons.

How it Works:

  1. 1. Talk to Cloto - he'll ask you a math question
  2. 2. Hunt Ligators and collect coupons (100% drop rate)
  3. 3. Give Cloto the correct number of coupons based on his question
  4. 4. Once all 3 non-leader members answer correctly, proceed to Stage 2

Common Questions: "3+2=?", "7-4=?", "2×3=?" The answer is how many coupons you need to give Cloto.

Stage 2: Rope Puzzle

Three party members must hang on the correct combination of ropes while the leader checks with Cloto.

Strategy:

  • • There are 4 platforms with ropes (numbered 1-4 from left to right)
  • • 3 members must hang on ropes simultaneously
  • • Leader talks to Cloto to check if combination is correct
  • • If wrong, try a different combination
  • • The correct combination is random each run

Pro Tip: Use process of elimination! There are only 4 possible combinations if you fix one person's position and rotate the other two.

Stage 3: Platform Puzzle (Mini)

Party members must stand on platforms indicated by the number of barrels with cats.

How to Solve:

  • • Look at the barrels - each has 1, 2, or 3 cats inside
  • • The number of cats = the platform number you should stand on
  • • Example: If you see 2 cats in your barrel, stand on platform 2
  • • All 4 party members must be on correct platforms simultaneously

Speedrun Tip: Call out your numbers in chat! "P1", "P2", etc. Quick communication makes this stage fast.

Stage 4: Platform Puzzle (Extended)

Similar to Stage 3, but with 6 platforms instead of 3.

Extended Platforms:

  • • Now there are barrels numbered 1-6
  • • Same concept: find your barrel, check the number, stand on that platform
  • • Platforms are numbered left to right: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
  • • Some barrels may have the same number - that's okay!

Common Mistake: Don't rush! Make sure you're on the right platform before declaring ready.

Stage 5: Boss Fight (King Slime)

The final stage! Defeat the boss and collect passes for completion.

Boss Strategy:

  • • Kill all monsters in the room (King Slime and regular Slimes)
  • • Monsters will drop "Pass of Dimension" items
  • Party leader must collect all passes
  • • Once leader has enough passes, talk to Cloto to complete

Boss Stats:

King Slime HP: ~3000

Damage: Moderate (50-100 per hit)

Special: Can split into smaller slimes

Critical: If the leader doesn't pick up passes, you cannot complete! Make sure leader is looting.

🎁 Bonus Stage

After completing Stage 5, you'll sometimes get access to the Bonus Stage - a room filled with Horny Mushrooms and Green Mushrooms!

Bonus Stage Details:

  • Duration: 1-2 minutes of free training
  • Monsters: Horny Mushrooms (Lv. 30) and Green Mushrooms (Lv. 15)
  • Drops: Equipment, potions, and meso
  • Strategy: AOE classes should spam skills for maximum efficiency!

Fun Fact: The Bonus Stage is one of the most memorable parts of KPQ for veteran players. The frantic monster-killing and loot-grabbing is pure nostalgia!

🏆 Rewards & EXP

Experience Points

  • Per Run: ~5,000-8,000 EXP (varies by level)

  • 🎁 Mesos

💡 Pro Tips & Tricks

🔥 Finding Parties

Stand in Kerning City subway and look for party recruitment in chat. Use phrases like "LF3M KPQ" (Looking For 3 More) or "KPQ 21-30".

⚡ Speed Running

Experienced parties can complete KPQ in 5-7 minutes. The key is communication and knowing exactly what to do each stage.

🎯 Best Classes for KPQ

Mages (especially Fire/Poison) excel due to AOE skills. Warriors are great for tanking boss. Any class works though!

💬 Communication is Key

Use party chat to coordinate! Quick callouts like "P2" or "Done" keep runs smooth and fast.

🔄 Repeat Runs

Stick with a good party! Doing multiple runs with the same group is way more efficient than constantly finding new members.

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • ❌ Leader not picking up passes in Stage 5
Make sure the party leader loots all Pass of Dimension items!
  • ❌ Rushing through stages without coordinating
Slow down and communicate. A wipe costs more time than being careful.
  • ❌ Not bringing potions
Always have HP/MP potions! The boss hits hard for lower levels.
  • ❌ AFKing or not participating
Don't be that person. Everyone needs to contribute!
  • ❌ Leaving mid-run
If you need to leave, let your party know BEFORE starting!
